Opening of the Second Section of the LBJ Express

Category: General / 01 August 2014

This week the second phase of the LBJ Express was opened. The new section includes the stretch of the Interstate 635 between Josey Lane and the Interstate 35E; the south of circular 12 and the north of the I-35E before Valley View Lane.

This phase has two elevated TEXpress lanes in each direction and new side lanes for greater comfort and mobility.

With this opening, drivers will have the opportunity to avoid the congestion of the surface lane of the I-35E, having a fast and reliable connection from the LBJ Express, to destinations such as Dallas airport, Dallas Medical District, Oak Lawn, Irving etc.

Opening rates, provided that congestion does not impede traffic flow, will range between $0.65 and $1.65 for this stretch spanning 3.6 miles (5.8 km).

"This new phase has started business nine months earlier than expected," said Antonio Alvarez-Cedron, CEO of LBJ Infrastructure Group, "This is another opportunity for drivers to experience an infrastructure designed for comfort, flexibility and mobility in the Dallas-Fort-Worth metropolitan area".

This new section has repeated the successful opening of phase 1 in December. 522,000 drivers have already enjoyed the benefits of this road through all four TEXpress lanes from the I-635 from Preston Road Greenville Avenue.

"This project enables the state of Texas to leverage an investment of $490 million and turn it into $2.7 trillion to improve infrastructure," said David Laney, Chairman of the Board of Directors ofLBJ Infrastructure Group."This is the new era of managing traffic congestion and we are the first to bring it to North Texas."
